Anyone who’s familiar with the Pacific Northwest knows it rains here. Quite a bit. It’s what keeps the grass green, the rivers running, and the hairstyle eternally flat.
Anyway, while running errands this drizzly afternoon, my (newly turned) 5-year-old inquired from the backseat: “Mommy, what day is it today?” My response that it was Friday was met with: “Then God must have said, ‘Let there be rain’ on Friday.”
Not sure exactly why, but this straight-from-the-hip comment from my preschooler tickled my funny bone and touched my heart in just the right way on an otherwise dreary day. Liquid sunshine indeed.
